Caiman MKII GFU
Digital Audio at its best
The Beresford Caiman MKII GFU takes the standard Caiman to
greater heights for an even more dynamic and foot tapping sound. The
GFU upgrade adds a more sustained weight to the bass frequency, a
far more analogue midrange and treble response, and an increase in
dynamic range with a lower noise floor. This produces a warmer, less
clinical sound. The already outstanding signal separation and wide
soundstage is now more lifelike, filling your room with a wall of
sound from even small bookshelf speakers.
The Caiman with GFU has increased the entertaining presentation of
the Caiman.
Power supplies and energy efficiency
The Caiman MKII GFU is also an extremely energy efficient DAC, which has
allowed us to make it compatible with alternative energy sources. You can power the
Caiman MKII GFU from a 12Volt battery pack, or even a 12V/1W solar panel, instead
of the included mains power supply.
Audio bits and sampling rate
The Caiman MKII GFU (Gator Firmware Update) makes use
of the improved DAC decoding ability to add even more
realism to the sound, and an added layer of detail.
The more generous 32 Bit dynamic range overhead and higher
768fs sampling rate also reduces signal compression and
clipping from the original source material.
Input and Output connections
The Caiman MKII input options are USB,
TOSLINK, and digital COAX.
The output is a stereo RCA connection. This
output can be switched between a fixed CD level
signal, or to an adjustable output suitable for
power amplifiers or active speakers.
