TC-7400 Gator fitting instructions

The following fitting instructions applies to the TC-7520, Caiman PLUS, and Caiman

Undo the four screws at the bottom of the DAC and lift the top lid off.

Look for the audio PCB, which is situated right above the headphone socket.

Use a thin flatblade screwdriver to separate the audio PCB from the headphone socket at the left side.

Use the screwdriver to separate the glue on the right side as well.

Lift the PCB upwards. You might need toi use some extra force since the PCB is secured to the headphone socket via double sided tape, as well as the glue.

Once the PCB has been removed, this is what you should see underneath its previous location.

Allign the end of the Gator PCB with 6 pins, against the socket with the same 6 holes on the main PCB.

Insert the 6 pin connection end into the socket, and then do the same for the 5 pin connection at the other end of the gator PCB.

Hold the DAC sideways so that you can view the 6 pin connection from the side. Make sure all pins are in the connector.

Hold the DAC sideways so that you can view the 5 pin connection from the side. Make sure all pins are in the connector.

Use a thin flatblade screwdriver to lift up one side of one of the opamps from the IC socket.

Repeat the process at the other end of the opamp as well until the opamp is free.

Now put the opamp into the socket on the Gator PCB. Please make sure that you place it in the same position as in the picture. DO NOT FIT IT IN THE WRONG WAY ROUND! The writing on the opamp should be upside down when seen from the front of the DAC.

Double check your work before putting on the top cover of the DAC again. Now put back the four screws on the bottom of the case.
